In Reality

Everything you place your attention on comes closer to your experience. At first the attraction to your reality is not that great, and it will only appear on the fringes of your experience. Keep thinking about it, and it will come a bit closer, someone you know had such and such happen to them. You start to see it on the horizon.

You become more and more a vibrational match for what you think about. You start to experience funny little synchronicities. You notice articles, pictures, and other things that reflect what you were thinking about. Eventually it happens to you personally -- be it for good, or for bad. But then, many things can negate the manifestation process. Disbelief for example.

We don't attract experiences for others directly, because we don't choose their thoughts, but oftentimes we may influence them (tempt or compel) them to choose our thoughts of expected behavior.

And generally, the gut feeling type of intuition you were describing is a tidal wave of thought that already has garnered its momentum, and you are merely precognitively feeling its destination. Sometimes those are too late to change. The past, present, and future are all one, so it makes sense that we can have premonitions and such.
