Maria Duval - Have you Tried the Latest New York City Sensation?

Have you Tried the Latest New York City Sensation?
In the smog and rat race of our brave new world, have you ever set time aside to reflect and wonder if you could change or at least learn from your past? Do you even think it is possible to learn from your mistakes? Do you even remember your mistakes?

What if I told you there was a way to step back in time and reflect on your past and create a future that insures you don't make the same mistakes again, would you like to try it? It will take as little as 5 minutes and on the other hand you can do it for as long as you like.

Have you tried Walking Backwards, That's right simple by walking backwards you can physically walk your mind back in time. Now of course walking backward is not that easy and ho by the way it's a killer workout, it works your balance, agility and stability, and it targets your Glute and Hamstrings, which are trouble areas and very weak for a lot of people in fact weak Glutes and Hamstrings are in part a contributing factor for back pain.

Have you seen Steven Hefferon the "Backward Walking Man of Central Park"? Those that have, get up pretty early, Steve likes to walk first thing in the morning before heading into his office, most of the time before 6 AM not to beat the heat but to beat the distractions, it freaks people out a little bit when they see me walking backwards and while Steve does not mind explaining what he is doing it does make it hard to keep focused on stepping back in time.

If you would like to learn how to walk your mind back in time, the first thing you need to do is to practice walking backwards. Any path that is paved and has an edge is great for practicing. If you are still hesitant try holding someone's hand and doing it together.

The hard part is training your mind to think backwards, so one technique is to think back on birthdays, holidays or special events than as you get better at thinking back concentrate on details of the events and sooner of latter you will think of the blunder, embarrassing moment and yes even the mistake…

Don't get me wrong this is not just about walking back into mistakes but feel free to walk your self back when you have moment of greatness and genius. Backup your life to a time when you could do no wrong, when you felt the best, the safest and the felt like you could do anything, feel free to walk your self in to a feel good moment and stay there for a while and than use that feeling to create achievement in your life today…

Look you can sit on the couch and watch reruns or Hogan's Heroes, or Get Smart or Gilligan's Island and have the same type of memories but If you want to create change in your life, get you butt off the couch and walk your mind back in time and learn from your mistakes and hold on to the times that made you feel good or even the times of greatness.

Let me add final summation to the experience, as the final step in creating change and to live the changes you want to live, there is a simple formula to any situation you find yourself in and it goes like this…

STOP, you're self from reacting like you would have…

THINK, for a moment what is the best way to handle this situation…

ANTICIPATE, How the outcome is going to be so you become in control of the situation and not always have to put out fires…

You see I heighten my success by learning from both from the highs and lows, understanding what I did, why I did it and what my thought and beliefs were at the time.

I know now, that I need to live my life Expectedly and Pro-actively. I start each day with thoughts of achievement; knowing what I need to get done will get done. The words I choose to use throughout the day are also critical in reinforcing the outcome of my day. And of course my actions fulfill my expectations.

Holly cow why did it take me 40 years to learn that, why did my mother not explain it to me or why did I not learn this in the 20 plus years I was in school. Or did I, and just needed to grow up to appreciate it.

While growing old may suck, it does help you appreciate the good the bad and the ugly in life.

I like to thank Matthew Furey for teaching me these techniques, you see I went from being computer geek to co-founding losethebackpain.com and becoming and Internationally Known Back Pain Expert, it took a while but I did it.

See you in the park…

Four Agreements - Fourth Agreement - Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret. We all need to learn to love ourselves more " to accept what is " and what isn’t …and make it all okay! I’m not sure where this quote came from but I think it fits here -"We learn wisdom from failure much more than from success. We often discover what will do, by finding out what will not do; and probably he who never made a mistake never made a discovery." Don’t just study what others have to say " don’t mimic what others do " YOU have a purpose here " do YOUR best… I was ordained as a New Thought Minister and The New Thought movement isn’t about learning Ernest Holmes and Charles and Myrtle Fillmore… What they have invited us to do is to experience what they have experienced… There were times during my first few years in Ministry that I wasn’t sure I was doing my best… I did all the things I’ve shared not to do " that’s how I knew to tell my students!! We are NOT the creators of the Universe…The World is in continual evolution " We are responsible to be conscious of the process in our lives… We are co-creators. When you recognize yourself as a co-creator with God, you have access to unlimited power and an unlimited future. There is a beautiful description of co-creation in the words of Henry David Thoreau: “I learned this, at least, by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings.” Once God puts something in our hearts for us to do, we are to lock in on what it is that has been called for us to do. Our responsibility is to do what we know to do. We are responsible for the WHAT and we let God fill in the HOW The most current wisdom I am learning AGAIN " is to Let GO " SURRENDER to the PROCESS of Life… that’s what it means to surrender to God " or to Good… I’d like to close this passage with a-piece sent to me by a friend " it’s the metaphor for our lives " Rising against gusting breeze, a kite flies. Tethered but by a simple string, wind caressing its face, trailing tail behind, up, up, up it climbs. Flittering side to side. Dipping, lilting, skirting, ever taunting its line, "Higher, higher, higher, " Let the string roll too rapidly from its spindle, and the wind loses its grasp. Hold on too tightly, and the kite can't possibly rise. Loose and hold at the 'just right' moments, the kite soars. Effortlessly, serenely, flirting with the very heavens. You see, when it comes to kite flying, the essence is in tending the line. It's in sensing the shifting gusts. It's in being flexible, in knowing when to hold on, and when to let go. THE TIME IS NOW --- And so it is.

10 ways to cut your electric bill
One of the major concerns in the world today is depletion of energy. As concerned citizens all of us must make a concerted effort to be conscious citizens and save electricity. Electricity has become integral to life but imagine having to live without power. Conservation of electricity benefits you personally as you will pay lower bills. Consider: 1. Doing an energy audit. This will tell you how and when you use energy and where the wastage lies. You will be able to make an “energy savings plan” by pinpointing exactly how you can cut back on energy consumption. Some ideas may be as simple as don’t leave the coffee machine on at all times. 2. Think about resetting the thermostat ten degrees lower during the night. If you can do this for say approximately eight hours a day you will save 10% on electricity without sacrificing comfort. Insulate the home in winter by drawing shut the drapes. 3. Check all insulation in the house. If you increase attic insulation to around 12 inches the electricity consumption will reduce by 20 percent. 4. Plant more trees around the house these will cool the house in summer and insulate the house in winter. Studies show that a green cover benefits in many ways. 5. Have all electricity wires and outlets checked for leakage. Check all fuses and appliances. 6. Fluorescent light bulbs are energy efficient. They use 75% less energy than ordinary light bulbs. These have a longer life and contribute to great savings. 7. Use energy efficient appliances. These use less energy and believe it or not a high efficiency refrigerator uses less electricity than a light bulb. 8. When you are away even for a few hours or days you should turn off and unplug all electrical appliances and turn settings on the thermostat, water heater, and refrigerator to the lowest setting. 9. Ensure that you use a water-saving shower head. Water heating costs for a family can be lowered by at least US$ 250 a year. 10. Weatherize your home. This helps reduce heating bills by 20% and cooling by at least 10 percent. Even when building a home or decorating it use weather friendly materials"those that are not good conductors of heat and cold. Install windows and glass panes in the roof in such away that you use sunlight to light up the rooms during day light hours. Make an effort to switch off lights and fans when leaving a room. Ensure that the filters in air conditioners and heaters are always cleaned and free of clog and dust. If you live an energy efficient lifestyle you will see the numbers on the energy bill actually reducing. The power to cut energy costs is well within your control. It is as simple as only washing full loads and that to in cold water. Use the hot wash option only for very dirty clothes. Cook food only just before you are ready to eat that way you can save reheating costs as well as refrigerating costs of storing the food. Turn the thermostat of the refrigerator to minimum in cold or cool weather. Switch off freezers if they are not in use. Small contributions can all add up to significant amounts of power saved. And, power saved means money in the bank.

Create Fear for Inspiration and Action
You've brought books, CDs, those old cassette tapes, searched the internet, and maybe even attended seminars, but yet you find yourself falling short of your desire or you don't even come one step closer to what you tried to achieve. You lose any inspirational thoughts you once had and sink back to where you came from. You may ask yourself "Why do I keep failing? Am I supposed to just remain who I am today?"

Do not lose hope and sight of your goal. If you have obtained self improvement resources before, you have a desire to improve. You have a desire to free yourself from debt. You have a desire to look your best. You have a desire to be intimate in your relationships.

Here is a fantastic analogy and inspirational thought to help you see the problem. By not defining the problem correctly you can not provide a correct solution, leaving you to wonder your whole life about "what could have been". Think of the books you read, the CDs you listen to, the seminars you attend, as a spark. This spark has an extremely powerful potential. It has the potential to ignite and create fire. Can you see the relation between the spark and the resources you read and listen to? These self improvement guides create an internal spark of motivation in you. They temporarily inspire you and pump you up, gearing you towards your goal and setting you on the correct path.

However, it isn't too long until you find yourself not moving forward on the path toward your goal, or that you have totally diverted away from the path. You may have even lost ground by feeling so beaten up after failing you enter into a state of depression and fear. What you need is to turn the spark gained from the self improvement resources into a roaring fire. A fire so powerful and independent that it will continue to burn without 'outside help' in keeping it that way. To learn what can fuel that spark into a fire, ask yourself, "this internal desire I have to improve, where is it coming from?" Is it that you're tired of worrying about being able to put food on the table, provide clothing, and shelter? Are you sick of arguing with your partner or friends and you want to have more intimate relationships? Are you ashamed of how those extra pounds make you look?

Now that it is apparent as to why you want to improve, make it a strong fear. Using a relationship example; let's say you are struggling to have a loving, conflict-free, and open relationship. Create or bring out the fear that one day you'll lose contact with the person. Make the fear a real possibility. If you continue to have average or poor communication with this person, it is a reality that you could break-up or lose contact altogether. This is your fear. This is your fuel for the spark to ignite it into a roaring fire and keeping it burning strongly.

So the next time you feel you do not have what it takes to accomplish that elusive goal, remember the inspirational thought of fearing what could be. Pull out that fear and use it to drive yourself. By asking yourself "what could be", you will prevent yourself saying later "what could have been".
