Maria Duval - How To Be Like Other Great Individuals

How To Be Like Other Great Individuals
Wishing to be like someone is seen as non-authentic and corrupts your originality. However in remembering occasions where we have wished to be like some great iconic figures, we all need to accept the fact that in one way or the other we might have found ourselves in those situations for various reasons. It might be that the situation ignited the passion within you to pursue your goals, guided by your values and actually in the context of your dreams that has made you what you were meant to be or yet to buckle up, take up the mantle and announce to the universe that you are now ready to unleash your greatness and keep it alive. You might have thought or uttered words like, IF I COULD BE…… OR BE LIKE……. in relation to the feats and accomplishments of other great and iconic figures. One thing stands clear and undoubtedly a sincere admission is the fact that we might not have asked ourselves these mega questions: IF THEY COULD BE, CAN I BE? CAN I BE IF I KNOW I WOULD NOT FAIL? Yes, if we could have asked ourselves these questions and nurtured the courage and boldness to confront the possibility of having what we want regardless of any restraining force or feeling, we would have made strides or even reached our goals. The underlining element and factor here is the probable possibility of failure and with this I can only point to its conspiring cousins, fear and anxiety. WHAT ARE YOUR FEARS AND WHAT ARE YOUR ANXIETIES? Wouldn’t the mere imaginative manifestation of what you are meant to be give you the super fulfilment and inner satisfaction to say that WHAT IS FEAR AND WHAT ARE ANXIETIES when I am being called by the universe TO BE WHAT I AM? Fears and anxieties have nailed many great potential great individuals destinies into near obscurity and oblivion. However the good news is that these two conspiring cousins of failure can be destroyed and exterminated by a weapon that all of us possess. -POWER OF CONFRONTATION. POWER OF INNER AND SELF CONFRONTATION. -Have you ever asked a question about something you do not understand? -Have you approached someone for the clarity of a fact or situation? -Have you ever decided on your own to stop a habit? -Have you embarked on an assignment to find answers to nagging questions? -Have you questioned yourself about some occurrences in your life? -Have you ever used the word DARE? If you have found yourselves in these situations before then you have the essential power of confrontation. It only needs nurturing, guiding and deployment to banish all levels of fears and anxieties as and when they come. I have a strong belief that we possess a reasonable measure of this inner power, strong willed to conquer these conspiring cousins of fear and anxiety. Uncle Failure then becomes inconsequential when these two guys are taken care of. And this is why Walt Disney once said that “Every dream is achievable if we have the courage to pursue it”. Courage being an impetus for confrontation. Never say it is not possible when you have not exhausted your inner power of confrontation to deal with your fears and anxieties. Never say it is over until it is all over. To your success. See you at the top . THE MAGIC OF BELIEVING - THE POWER OF THOUGHT ENERGY

INTRODUCTION:

Submitter's Note: Craig has been studying and researching the human mind, the "last unexplored frontier" for the past decade and he is currently "working" on the connection (overlap) between mind and spirit, the relationship between psychology (science of the mind) and the spiritual world, God. A fascinating subject! This article (in point form) is based on an excellent motivational, up-lifting and inspiring book 'THE MAGIC OF BELIEVING' by Claude Bristol (written in the "thirties"). I am sharing the contents of this work in the spirit of encouraging and hopefully even inspiring those people, who really want to achieve their fullest potentials to read this classic book, BELIEVE...and surprise themselves what happens.

Thank you sincerely, Mr Bristol for sharing your practical insight, words of wisdom and especially inspiration, which I'm passing on in the form of this series of articles from my notes taken from your book.

Powerful forces locked in your mind can turn desire into reality! Learn to release them in this extraordinary book. Just BELIEVE!

Craig * "If thou can'st believe, all things are possible to him that believeth" - Mark 9:23

Most religions of the world (but especially Christianity) are based upon the powerful principle of FAITH ("God turns the impossible into the possible"). There is a golden thread running through all the teachings and makes them work for all who genuinely accept and apply them; it helps them reach all their goals in life. That thread in a word is BELIEF. There's genuine magic in believing. Study books of greatness and inspiration; because as we learn, we grow (in knowledge, as well as spiritually). It's a journey of exploration and personal growth.

See the law of suggestion (auto-suggestion) at work. Most of history's greatest achievements have been accomplished not by the most talented, but by the people who were willing to take on great risks and challenges and see them through. And that happens only by believing. All of us can develop belief, yet few people know HOW.

"You can become the unique person that it is in you to become; but only if you resist the urge to conform to the images others hold of you. You can turn all your potential into reality, only if you are willing to DREAM...and BELIEVE." - Nido R. Quebin. * Is there a something, a force, factor, power, a science, call it what you will, which a few people understand and use to overcome their difficulties and achieve outstanding success?

This concept is understood by few and used by even less people. I am convinced any sincere person can reach any heights he or she desires. There is a wealth of spirit in YOU. This book is written to help develop individual thinking and doing, to help people to a better understanding and the principle DOES work.

THE POWER OF THOUGHT (or the 'science of thought'): The principles mentioned in this work substantiate great truths handed down the ages.

The greatest problems bothering most people are financial ones.

Old Latin proverb: "Believe you have it and you have it." Belief is the motivating factor that enables you to reach your goal.

Can man project his thoughts even at great distances into other minds (mental telepathy)?

The most important advance in the next generation will be in the vast unknown of the human mind - dealing with the spiritual, ie. thought. Psychology is the science of the mind.

Persistence brings confidence and a continued right mental attitude followed by consistent action will bring success. Know the formula. It is mind power that has built empires.

Use the technique only for GOOD - to better yours and others lives.

THOUGHT: Thought is a terrific force with unlimited powers. RW Emerson: "Thought is the ancestor of our every action."

Our world is governed by thought. Buddha: "All that we are is the result of what we have thought."

The secret of success lies not without, but within the thoughts of man. History is filled with accounts of how thought has made weak men strong and strong men weak...and evidence of this is evident all around us in everyday living.

What you exhibit outwardly you are inwardly. You are the product of your own thoughts. "What you believe yourself to be, you are."

Thought is the original source of all wealth, success, material gain, all great discoveries and inventions...and of ALL achievement. Without it there'd be no empires built. A man's thoughts make or break him. Shakespeare: "There is nothing good or bad; but thinking makes it so."

Draw on the great source of power that lies within each one of us. We become what we contemplate, what we think about most. Everything is within - the mind is the source of all power. Man secures the gold of the spirit, when he finds himself.

Edison said that 'ideas come from space'.

The great ancient Greek physician, Paracelsus: "The human spirit is so great a thing that no-one can express it. Faith must strengthen the imagination, for faith establishes the will." * The Keys to Success: The first step on the road to success: Know exactly WHAT you want out of life.

Hard work alone will not bring success; our hands are designed to be helping the brain. DESIRE (burning), an obsession helps ensure success in any endeavour. (Personally, I feel we need to have balance in our lives). Ensure your thoughts and aims are co-ordinated. Make your energy concentrated and applied without "let-up" (continuous) * There is a big difference between NEED and a DESIRE.

All-consuming thoughts can be bad, as one needs balance in our lives. Become more real with our thinking and adding flavour (intensity) through our imaginations, ie visualisation.

"Thought attracts that upon which it is directed." It then sinks into our consciousness - the depth depends on the constancy, intensity and power of your thoughts.

Everything that exists is vibration??? The healing touch of Jesus's hand.

Prayer and meditation operate through this principle, as "focussed energy", like a lasar-beam.

"Creative force comes only when there is a completely rounded-out thought, when there is a fully developed mental picture, or when the imagination can visualise the attainment of our ambition and see in our mind a picture of the object we desire - a house, a car, a radio, etc - just as if we already possessed them."

To be effective, you have to BELIEVE that your prayers will be answered. Different creeds and cults work as a result of the firm beliefs of the individual: The "Magic of Believing". *

The Subconscious Mind:

The "still small voice within". Supreme Intelligence or Universal Mind. The subconscious or "essence of life" limits of its powers are unknown - it never sleeps, warns us of impending danger and can perform what are sometimes called miracles. The subconscious acts primarily on its own initiave, but there are times when its activities appear to be the result of influences from outside.

Get in contact with your subconscious mind and you can achieve wealth, power, fame, asw well as cure physical ailments and solve countless human problems. And its power is for YOU to use. Just BELIEVE in its power and put it to work using the techniques or systems.

Inventions, great musical compositions, poetry, fiction, writings (like this work) and all other ideas for original accomplishment come from the subconscious. Bricks fall into place, like a "magical hand". A pattern of co-incidences is a working out of a pattern you started with your own weaving. The great power of the subconscious is one of the most formidable forces in shaping and controlling our lives. Perhaps it works like an electrical vibration sets the law of attraction into operation.

Sustained thought or fixed mental picture - go "into the silence". Make mental pictures through the imagination - visualise. This comes about as a result of belief - a strange power that causes miracles to happen. It's a deep-seated belief - "heart and soul". a spiritual force. Know with every fibre of your being that you WILL achieve your desires.

Remember that your life is a "work in progress", so take one day at a time in an 'attitude of gratitude'.

Enjoy the journey of life

Appreciating Life Itself
"We want the spring to come and the winter to pass. We want whoever to call or not to call, a letter, a kiss, a raise " we want more and more and then more of it. but there are moments, walking, when I catch a glimpse of myself in the window glass, say, the window of the corner video store, and I am gripped by a cherishing so deep for my own blowing hair, chapped face and unbuttoned coat that I’m speechless: I AM LIVING. "
—Marie Howe from What the Living Do

All that we want, all that we do, all that we have, all that we like….our looks, our moods, our family, our friends, our jobs, the weather, our political leaders, our cars, our homes…..all of this……a moot point without LIFE. It sounds pretty basic, like, "No kidding!" Many of us all too often forget to appreciate the basics. And the most basic element of our life is…..that we have been blessed with one!

Being alive is probably the number one thing we take for granted. Okay, we were born, we’re breathing…now let’s do, do, do, buy, buy, buy, fix, fix, fix! In the midst of our hectic ‘gotta get ahead’ world, we are losing touch with appreciating life itself. How many of us are truly alive? How many are simply existing, you know, going through the motions robotically? The answer is…too many. What does a person’s best life look like? Of course, the answer varies from individual to individual. My experiences have convinced me that there are a few global concepts that all of us can consider in creating our own best life. All of them relate to a genuine appreciation for the opportunity to experience life with all its ups and downs and twists and turns. This idea transcends personality, ethnicity, age, and so on. Below are the top four ways you can learn to appreciate your very existence. Incorporating any ONE will change your life for the better. But why not try all four?! Remember to be patient, but practice, practice, practice.

  1. Notice and appreciate every inch of your body inside and out. Do you realize that most of your body functions through no effort of yours? You think, you get from point A to point B, you breathe, your heart beats, your organs do their thing nonstop, and you wake up in the morning. Your senses either enhance your life or protect you from harm. The list could go on and on. As far as your outside goes, is there any good that comes from disliking it? Appreciate the fact that you are alive and beautiful. This beauty must be acknowledged by YOU. Once you choose to see yourself as a spectacular vision, others will notice it as well.
  2. Notice and appreciate every person you come in contact with. Each one of us has redeeming factors. Commit to discovering at least one for each person you meet. If this ever seems to be a daunting task, choose one of yours and share it with that person. (Examples: your smile, your patience, your respectfulness) A funny thing may happen. It may become easier to notice something great in that other person.
  3. Notice and appreciate every element of nature. Yes, even the hurricanes and other ‘natural’ disasters. Why? Because the sheer power, unpredictability, and majesty of the forces in this universe are to be admired. We certainly would not cheer about the loss that may result. However, if we can see beyond this aspect that occurs relatively infrequently, there is so very much beauty in and assistance from nature that we can marvel over. Sometimes, we take these for granted. Appreciating the oxygen that ‘happens’ to flow from trees in exactly the amount we need to breathe, the rains that draw life from a lonely stem by producing a perfect blossom, the magical song of baby birds in the spring, or the almost surreal blanketing of snow on the earth in winter can make all the difference in the quality of your life.
  4. Notice and appreciate those events you perceive as bothersome or unfair. What?! Why would anyone appreciate a broken leg, getting fired, or losing a loved one? Of course, I am not suggesting that you should love these things. But I am suggesting that you, at an appropriate time, look at any such event in your life and find its message for how you can get even closer to truly living your best life because of it. THIS is what you can appreciate.

So, take a deep breathe in and exhale slowly allowing a soft release of appreciation for simply being alive!

Steps To Building Your Self-Confidence
Accept yourself

The very first step in building self-confidence is to accept yourself in an unconditional way. You are human, therefore you are not perfect, so don?t dwell on what you see as flaws. Everyone has qualities that someone else does not. This is what makes us want to go out and find partners who give us love, and make us feel wanted and complete. Those great feelings would not be possible if you were perfect. Accept yourself how you are. It will help to rid you of constant stress and worry over things that you cannot control.

Do what you want!

How long it has been since you last did something that you really liked, something that you enjoyed doing as a child? How long has it been since you went out for ice cream with a friend? These simple things have the power to build your self-confidence and add fulfillment to your life. Life can be very quite simple. It is easy to get caught u in the rat race of today?s world, and lose yourself in the process. It is easy to forget your purpose, what you like and what you enjoy doing. It happens to people all of the time. It is your responsibility to yourself that you get back to those simple things in life.

Find a group of friends

You?ve heard the saying, ?birds of a feather flock together?. It is important to find people with whom you enjoy spending time and doing things. You will find that life is a little bit easier when you are among the people who share your interests and your feelings. There is an understanding between you, as well as an open dialogue. Good conversation and friendship are healthy and important for our minds and souls.

Set goals and just do it!

Take one step at a time. Those single steps will develop into a giant gait over time. Do not overwhelm yourself, but simply do the task at hand. But set achievable goals and go for them! Don?t focus on the big picture, concentrate on the small steps. This is the only way to accomplish anything, and to avoid procrastination and depression. Even the smallest achievement will give you a sense of accomplishment that will boost your self-confidence.

Are you creating your life deliberately or by default?
Are you creating your life deliberately or by default? Copyright 2005 Melissa Quiter

Have you ever wondered how some people seem to have it all, while others struggle and work hard their whole lives and still have little to show for it? What is the difference between those that are creating the exact lives they desire to live and those who are not?

After hundreds of hours of research in programs, books, discussions and cutting-edge thought seminars, those questions can be answered by two very simple, yet profound, words.

Deliberate and Default

More specifically, deliberate creation -- proactively participating in the creation and manifestation of your conscious and subconscious desires, and default creation - being only consciously aware of what you desire while the subconscious (where 88% of creating is done) pushes you along without awareness and focused direction.

As the creator of your life, you are at cause for everything you attract into your experience. And based on the universal Law of Attraction, which says -- that which your energy is focused is drawn to you -- there is never a moment when you are not creating.

So, if you are deliberately creating your life through active participation, awareness and focused energy, your life is a true reflection of what you desire. If you are creating by default, you are at effect of what is being created by your untapped subconscious mind. Without focus and process, your mind falls prey to what it has habitually done in the past. You know this is happening to you if you seem to experience the same situations over and over and over again - the same bad relationships; the same financial challenges; the same frustrating work situations; etc.

Deliberate creating is about taking back the power you came to this earth possessing. It is about actively participating in the total design of your life. It is about following a process, the Process of Deliberate Creation, on a daily basis to continually be moving toward your desires.

Being a deliberate creator of your life is the joy and satisfaction that may be the answer to what is missing from your life. It may be the only thing standing in the way of living and experiencing the life you came to this earth to live.

Learn the Process of Deliberate Creation today and take the first step in creating and manifesting all of your desires!

Chopping Wood and Carrying Water
Humanity takes itself much too seriously and every experience does not have to be a life and death situation. Before the industrial revolution came along, humanity was involved with living. Half the world's population produced all the food that would supply the other half. Rural residents produced their own food and in doing so they maintained their connection with the earth. When I was growing up, we always had a garden. Everyone had fruits trees of some kind growing in their yards. Listening to the radio or watching television was something you did after supper when all the chores were done-it was kind of a reward for work well done. When we went to bed at night, we slept well. Our minds were at peace knowing when we go up everything would be as it was. People were content and happy to do a good days work. The middle class families demonstrated the good life. The very poor and rich were struggling to maintain what they had. They were always under stress to improve their lot-always wanting more-always worrying about keeping what they had. All classes look at each other with fear and envy. The rich envied the middle class for their freedom-the middle class envied the rich for what they had. They both envied the poor for their perceived lack of responsibility and freedom. The poor wanted to be recognized and treated fairly-they wanted a part of what the other two groups had. Yet it was the middle class who separated the rich and poor. And it was the middle class who was the most prolific in symbolizing how man should live. The rich always eager to collect more introduced a virus into society called consumerism. Consumerism was the next great plague that would kill off the middle class. As the middle class turned their heads away from what they had and focused on what they could have, they found themselves wanting more. They turned away from the simple pleasures which were expressions of their happiness and become addicted to the new wave of materialism that would consume them and destroy their way of life. The rich introduced new products and services they said would free up middle class. All this extra time would be spent leisurely with friends and family. However there would be a hefty price for all these goods and services. This required the middle class to move from their fields and gardens to find good paying jobs in the cities to pay for the new consumerism. The quality leisure time traditionally spent with family, friends, and community was now spent working harder to pay for the goods and services. We are isolated and cocooned ourselves. We live in front of the TV because we are too tired to interact with others. The virus has a strong hold and the middle class has shrunk to almost non-existence. The middle class was duped into believing it was not happy and happiness could be found in consumerism. Humanity now finds itself searching for what it already had-happiness. It has tricked itself into believing things will bring it happiness. "I will be happy when I get my new car." "I will be happy when I purchase my new 72" plasma TV." "I will be happy once I move into my new home." But people are finding out happiness doesn't always come with the new product or is very short lived. We have convinced ourselves into believing only "things" bring happiness. All of us have experienced being excited about acquiring something new, only to find it didn't live up to our expectations, was defective, or not as advertised. Were we happy? The illusion of acquiring more happiness outside of ourselves has not worked and it is observable-something went wrong! How were we tricked? We experienced happiness when we were not too busy looking for it. By nature, happiness is what we are naturally and what we do expresses our happiness. Happiness is a choice we make first and then we express it. In your mind you must be happy and then you seek to do things which reflect your happiness-you do happy things. We have it all backwards, and it is why we are suffering now. We are experiencing consumerism induced happiness-it is synthetic and unnatural, and it is designed to drain you and take all your energy and resources. The new religion of consumerism has not enlightened us. In fact it has taken us away from enlightenment. It has taken us down a path of searching for what we already are by nature, and it is the reason we cannot find it. You cannot find what you already are. To experience happiness you must be happy first and then express it physically in what you do. Enlightenment does not bring you happiness. Searching will not bring you there. There is a Buddhist expression; "Before enlightenment comes chopping wood and carrying water, after enlightenment comes chopping wood and carrying water." It is all there is, and somewhere in between you experience happiness. Happiness will always lead to the simpler life. It does not mean we have to give up the things we desire. It simply means we should not take on more than what we are able to manage while maintaining our ability to experience happiness.
