Maria Duval - What Attracts You

What Attracts You
Every now and then some new concept or high tech tool comes along and tantalizes the minds of the multitudes. Depending on the magnitude of impact, often what effectively results vary from great strides and changes on personal levels to global scales. When it comes to the movie The Secret and its teachings about the law of attraction , there have been many people jumping on board as if it were a new and unheard of concept.

Positive affirmations and positive thinking and even the law of attraction, is not new to us. So why have so many people jumped on the ban wagon of manifestation this time around? One key factor might be the new way of explaining the scientific aspect behind the old idea.

Relating the power of though energy to the energy vibrations of everything around us is the skeptics smelling salts for many eye opening modes of thinking. Scientific discoveries, much like law, are fixed factors that stabilize and ground possibilities into sound beliefs. Thus getting the skeptic to understand the concept becomes the only challenge. Although we are continuously learning more, science has its undeniable concrete grounding effect.

Aside from the original movies teachings, another popular scientific discovery on this subject matter comes from a Quantum Physics discovery of how electrons change their behavior in reaction to being observed. Again, the science is proven and what remains is the understanding of it in relationships to manifesting.

In addition to the science of it all, titling the movie The Secret provoked curiosity as to when, what and where was the hidden concept in the first place. In response this may have been why it turned the heads of many Holy Doctrine devotees. Many found themselves seeking truth and proof of the science in scriptures in order that they might compare the potency of The Secrets message with Bible teachings. Some spiritual leaders sought to warn people to beware of false teachings and disprove it while others looked to enhance awareness for better understanding it.

Once knowing what the law of attraction is on the level of science, relating it to Biblical doctrine is easy. It is undeniable that thought effectualness is what Jesus was teaching when he said, when praying for something behave as if you have already received it. This was also what Jesus was trying to convey when he spoke to those he healed in saying, it was because of their belief that He was able to heal them. Another interesting interlocking of the law of attraction in relation to belief and biblical teaching is when Jesus told His disciples that if only they believed, they could tell a mountain to move itself into the ocean and it would. The amazing man Jesus who walked on water spoke of how our thinking was able to do much more than we imagined. This is confirmed again in His teaching that sinning in our thoughts is the same as sinning in the flesh. As a Master of masters, many religious scholars would not deny that Jesuss words are significant evidence that Bible teachings support the law of attraction concepts.

Another interesting perspective as to The Secrets depth of success should in deed be attributed to the makers of the film themselves. Surely they believed what they wanted to teach and utilized energies of visualizations, feelings, and thoughts for the movies success to reach the multitudes in understanding, applying, and changing the world for the better. Once the idea was conceived and great thinkers put into action, manifestation of a film that illuminated harmony and clear understanding was thus inevitability born.

In order to understand why The Secret has had such a powerful impact on the minds of so many who already knew the secret, one could say it is due to powerful impacts of new science, old religion and present day applications. Apparently this combination has shaken awake the giants of incredulity and shed the blankets of the dormant believers. We have only to wait and see what dreams may come of it all.

Are You Stuck? Consider Changing Your Focus!
If you sometimes feel as though you’re caught in life’s quicksand, you have a lot of company. We work, we struggle, we try to do everything we possibly can to move on to a higher level of well-being but it seems like the harder we work, the more stuck we get. If you’re approaching a Category 5 frustration level, you might give this a try… Switch your focus from that really nice " but frustrated " person in the mirror to one or more of the other folks who inhabit this good earth. I realize that it’s important to watch out for number one " ourselves. We need to set goals, lay out plans and then do those things we need to do so that we can at least make some progress toward our goals. We need to demonstrate personal financial responsibility, plan for retirement and frequently just cover our backside so it doesn’t get chewed off by one or more of life’s rodents. However, what frequently happens is that we become so over-focused on ourselves and our own personal well-being that we wind up building huge walls. We lose the ability " or even desire " to see the bigger picture and the possibilities that life presents to us. We become so focused on “me” that we sometimes begin scrutinizing even the most insignificant events to determine their potential impact on our personal lives. We become victims to ourselves. And to be real honest about it, we sometimes just become so busy being busy that we lose track of where we thought we wanted our lives to wind up in the first place. One possible solution as I mentioned earlier is to change our focus from “me” to “others”. From being the receiver to being the giver. And no, I’m not even implying that this requires any major change in the things we do every day. It may eventually lead to that but it’s not a critical part of the initial process. Here’s what I mean. No matter what you do to earn a living or keep the household moving in a logical direction, somewhere down the line a real person will probably benefit from what you do. Think about it. The work we do is not just to stuff computer systems full of information or help machines work better. It’s not just to take people’s money so we’ll have a paycheck at the end of the week. It’s not just filling out forms, nailing pieces of boards together, assembling electronic devices, hauling packages, going to meetings, cutting down trees, repairing cars, painting houses, stocking shelves, installing drywall or flippin’ hamburgers. Somewhere, sometime (and maybe immediately) another human being will likely be positively affected by what you do. And yes, if you’re paying attention, you’ve noticed that I’ve used a couple of cop-out words in the preceding paragraph " “likely” and “probably”. I had to do that because in the real world there are some individuals whose money-making efforts are focused mainly on “non-beneficial” activities. That’s just the way the world is. For the rest of us however, our activities and work generally reflect a more positive endeavor. That leads us back to the original suggestion. If you are caught in the quicksand, take a few minutes to really think about the people " the individuals who will be better off, healthier or happier because of what you do. Think about how you are giving of your time and talents so that others will profit in some way from your efforts. Do you see what can happen here? When we change our focus from “me” to “others”, our work " the things we do every day " starts taking on a new significance. We are now a giver. Our life honestly is meaningful. We know that what we do is truly important to someone else. That’s pretty special, huh? If you’re having to really stretch your imagination to see at least one other person benefiting from the things you do and it’s really not fitting together, you might consider looking into a different occupation " or at least a different way to spend your free time. There are a bunch of people who could really benefit from your talents. Think about what you do well " what you enjoy doing that could help others have a better life. Then go do it. You’ll be out of the quicksand before you know it.

How To "Cleanser Yourself" Of Negative Energy
Take a blank piece of paper. On the front of it, make a list of all the things that are "sacred" to you. On the back, make a list of all the things that are "negative" or "bad" for you in your life.

You’ve now got your lists. On the front you have a list of things that are “sacred” to you. On the back you have a list of all things that are NOT sacred (the things that bring negative emotions into your heart).

Now, you will need to gather a few tools to use to finish the building blocks of your internal sacred space. Gather the following items:

• White candle in a holder
• Matches, or a lighter
• A glass (or ceramic) bowl
• A glass of water

Set them up in front of you like this (the bowl should be directly in front of you):

When you are ready, light the candle. Let it become your focus. Feel the heat and energy coming from the candle. Visualize it’s energy surrounding you, enveloping you in it’s light and warmth. Let it’s light fill the aura around your body. See this light purifying your energy, filling your heart with it’s pure, white glow.

After you feel warm and pure from the light of the candle, take the paper and unfold it.

Slowly read the list of sacred things aloud. Allow yourself to pause between each one and think deeply on it.

When you have gone through your entire list, say the following aloud, and with purpose:

“These Sacred things that I see
Make them all a part of me
Help me raise the energy”

Now visualize each item from your list rising up off of the paper to brighten the white purifying light around you.

Next, fold the paper back up without even looking at the list of negative things. Gently hold the folded paper into the fire on the candle (be very careful not to burn yourself or anything around you).

Once the paper catches fire, drop it immediately into the bowl. Now say aloud:

“Cleanse the Space inside of me
And rid all negativity
I accept no less " So Mote It Be”

Now watch the flames carefully as they burn the rest of the paper while you focus on feeling your positive sacred energy full of grand emotions. Feel the energy again, surrounding you and cleansing your space with white purifying light, filled with all of your sacred things.

Pour some water into the bowl to put out the rest of the flames and ash to “cleanse” all the negativity from your space.

Now blow at the candle.

You have now set up your basic internal sacred space that you are going to build on in the future.

When you first set up your sacred space in this way, do this once a week for 4 weeks to reinforce it and grow the power of your space. (you can write down different things, or the same things every time)

Going forward, you are going to want to do this once a month to keep your sacred space clean so that your Magick will work to it’s fullest and won’t be tainted with negativity.

In my Witchcraft Academy In-A-Box, I reveal some powerful techniques you can use to boost the power of your sacred space every day and use it to tap into Magick energies any time you need to (even when you are walking down the street).

I will also go into detail (with video demonstrations) the process of creating your internal sacred space " as well as exactly how to set up and “cleanse” your external sacred space. I need more time to explain the external sacred space, and it is really something you need to “see” before you can understand completely what you need to do.

You will also discover the secrets of “short term” and “long term” sacred space and “natural hot spots”. All of these things will increase your focus giving more even more strength to your spells and other work.

What Works and What Does Not Work in the New Year
As another year comes quickly to a close and we come face to face with the things we didn't get done last year and the new promises to do them and others this year-maybe it's time to change our strategy. If you are feeling inadequate, frustrated, and let down by the promises you haven't kept-you are due for a change in how you do things. It makes no sense to keep doing the same thing over and over each year expecting to get different results-"it ain't gonna happen!" It is insanity to keep doing things which don't work for you. It does very little for your self esteem and the things don't get done anyways, so why do it. Have a good look at your list that seems to be getting bigger every year. If it is the volume of things on your list which are overwhelming you-then take some things off. Learn how to prioritorize your list and make an extra effort to make it much shorter. Maybe your life is getting too complicated and it is more than one person can handle. If the things you see as needing to be done are taking away from the quality of your life-it isn't working for you-you have lost touch with what matters most in your life. Don't feel bad about being in this situation-change it-it is within your power to give more meaning to your life. If you can afford it, it might be in your best interest to hire someone else to do these things or delegate someone else in the family in exchange for something they want or want to do. A New Year is simply a point in time many of us use to mark with gratitude and regret the things we did the year before. With the new year comes hope and a promise of better things to come, or at least it is what we have come to expect-a new sense of optimism. Keep this thought and follow through with it. Maybe bring a new thought into your reality-"all the things that really need to be done will be done" and leave it at that. Trust the universe to accommodate your desires-it will. Whatever is left over at the end of the year will be purposeful and appropriate because at some level of your consciousness it is how you prioritized them. Don't sacrifice family, friends, and peace for control and order. When you get to the end of the year, simply notice the things you have done and feel good about them. The circumstances of your life always follow an order consistent with your thoughts. You don't have to change anything except your thoughts to change the order of your life. Think positively about your life and its circumstances and the cluttered garage will have a different look at the end of this year. Deed always follows thought, whether you physically do anything about it yourself or not. Take a deep breath this year knowing all things are perfect, even if it means fooling yourself into believing it. You are so powerful-work with the universe to create what you truly desire and it will be made so. New Year is truly a remarkable time to change your thoughts and expect your life to be different.

How to get that it' factor happening
You know when you meet charismatic and compelling people. They exude a personal power that's hard to miss. You can feel' their presence as they enter a room and both male and female heads turn. For some, this magnetism is as natural as organic food whilst for others it can be developed over time.

Sitting here today in sunny Queensland Australia, I'm reflecting on what makes one person more attractive than another. Not just by physical attraction, but what makes them captivating. I've met absolutely gorgeous guys and girls that after spending five minutes with them, I'm already trying to find my escape route.

An occasion I remember as clearly as if it were yesterday, happened about 25 years ago. A friend of mine invited my family to visit him at a television station he worked at in Sydney. Of course we jumped at the chance! It's not every day you got such an opportunity!

We were met at the gate and were led down a corridor on the way to a sound stage. As I was passing by a room with an open door, I noticed blonde haired lady was having her hair done. It was Pamela Stephenson (Dr Pamela Connolly), wife of Billy Connolly. Our eyes met and she smiled at me. Her smile radiated the most amazing brilliant light which extended into and filled the entire dressing room! It was as if I was in the presence of an angel! Although I haven't followed her life, I vividly remember that it' quality about her.

Jennifer Hawkins has the it' quality as well. When she smiles she absolutely radiates with light. I have yet to speak with any woman who feels threatened by her or has said anything nasty about her.

John Travolta is another who is extremely charismatic and has the it' factor.

For me personally, I'm attracted to people who are confident, kind, humorous, smart and at peace with themselves.

So how can you get some of whatever it' is?

1. Peaceful individual's — those standing in their personal power - are relaxing to be around, so if you're not peaceful, get some meditation in, or yoga, tai chi, anything really that involves stilling the mind. Once you know how, apply it across all parts of your life. Tap into peace whenever you need and want.

2. Self-confidence is a huge attractor. Start moving out of your comfort zone by taking baby steps first. Increase the size of your steps as you become more familiar with what it is you're doing. I started to manage my website several months ago and this was very scary in the beginning. As I gradually became more adept my confidence in my ability grew and continues to do so.

3. Self-love follows closely behind the self-confidence. When you have love of self like a ripple on a pond it will permeate across all time and space.

4. Positive people inspire and motivate me. However, before you go ahead and start a huge positive talk fest with anyone and everyone, check out the mood of others around you. There's nothing worse than listening to someone talking to you about fabulously positive and great things if you're walking the dark night of the soul. Meet (or match) others where they're at first, then gradually build up the positive talk and watch the relationship unfold.

5. More on matching body gestures:move in unison with people, breath using their rhythm, always subtly and always with respect.

6. This is one point I always mention because of its importance. Be in the present moment. When you start a conversation with someone or they with you, be attentive, curious and interested in what they're saying. If you're matching their facial expressions remember to stop smiling and nodding when they're talking about something they find very distressing (unless you have a close relationship with them:).

7. Start reading newspapers, magazines, books (fiction and non-fiction). Then you will always have something to talk about. Find out what others are talking about.

8. Share some of yourself with others — not too much at the beginning of new relationships, and never reveal your entire life history in your first conversation!

9. Smile! A sincere smile is when it reaches your eyes.

10. Use your sense of humour, just make sure it's at an appropriate time and place. I once opened a speaking engagement with a funny story - all I heard were crickets! My next words were "moving right along now:."

This list isn't exhaustive, there's more you can do but if you start practicing the above, you're on you way to having some it' too!

Archetypal Symbology: For the Renewal of the Body, Mind and Soul
According to modern research, the mind operates at all times on some electro-magnetic frequency. These vibratory frequencies are measured in brain waves or other types of waves from the electromagnetic spectrum. These frequencies are determined by the level of consciousness upon which the individual is operating. Dr. David Hawkins, who mapped the human consciousness, outlined the vibrational frequencies of various states of mind. His map was designed to help us determine the frequency upon which our minds are ordinarily functioning. Beliefs determine the style and level of our daily electromagnetic functioning. My hypothesis here is that we can raise our consciousness-level significantly by changing our belief systems through the meditative practice of symbology. Certain pictures carry archetypal energy frequencies. By exposing our right brains (which respond to picture language) to certain images or symbols while in a meditative state, we can un-program, or re-program, our subconscious mind where many of our negative belief systems are stored. The theory behind archetypal psychosymbology can be expressed in this simple manner: All phenomena either conceal or reveal the Infinite. When you use your finite sight, the Infinite is concealed; when you use your Infinite Vision, the Infinite is revealed. Sight is the activity of the physical eyes and the programmed human mind. With sight we only see what we already believe, as we perceive through the left-brain and the subconscious mind. Vision is the activity of the observer or the spirit, which is perception through a less programmed right brain and through our superconsciousness. Archetypal symbols are images, which have universal meaning and value which are hardly known to the left-brain, but to which the right brain has direct access in the Superconscious. These symbols, if flashed to your right brain in a quiet meditative state, will work to bring about a change in your state of vibratory frequency, which includes your feelings, behavior and circumstances. In other words, your beliefs, your feelings, your body, your mind, your health, and your life circumstances seek to function in an integrated manner, although the ego system is basically in conflict with our original nature. This conflict is registered according to our chronic bioelectrical level of adaptation. For example, if you are chronically angry, functioning at 150 (as per Dr. Hawkins's map), it will affect your body, your relationships, your finances, and your environment (car, house, job, sex life, etc) accordingly. My thesis is that our entire ego belief system with which we have been brain-washed is in conflict with our basic essence and that this conflict is registered for our benefit through our stressful vibratory energies and symptoms. By meditating on any of these selected archetypal images on a regular basis, you will raise your vibratory energy level, and your entire life will improve. These archetypal pictures include the Door Symbol, Fire and Light Symbols, Water Symbols, Love Images, Power Symbols, Abundance Images, Color Images, Relaxation Symbols, Transformation Images, Sound and Music Symbols, Breath and Rebirth Symbols, Health and Healing Symbols, Peace and Joy Images, Wisdom and Balance Symbols. For the best results, select one of these symbols per month and flash it to your right brain for five to ten minutes before going to sleep, while you are in a calm, relaxed state of mind, following a two minute period of continuous inhales and exhales, with no breaks in between. Follow the same relaxation procedure when you first awaken, using a different symbol or image each day. During the day, feel free to recall and flash either of these symbols to your right brain to re-enforce their impact. Incredible experiences of change have been reported through this simple practice of re-programming the often negative subconscious mind. I have posted a gallery of archetypal symbolic images on a special blog: Archetypal Symbols Spend ten minutes in the morning and ten mintues before going to bed with over a period of a week with each of the images posted in my blog. Keep in mind…"One picture is worth a thousand words." And consider how you might benefit if you do this exercise twice a day. The effort is not a no-brainer; it is a right-brainer. The practice is designed to be: Magical, not logical; Symbolic, not literal; Metaphorical, not verbal; Integrative, not analytical; Circular, not sequential; Absorbed, not just read; Transformative, not just informative; a Right-brainer; not a left-brainer; Meditative, not argumentative; Revelatory, not repetitive.
