Maria Duval - Use Meditation to Overcome Short Term Memory Loss

Use Meditation to Overcome Short Term Memory Loss
Use Meditation to Overcome Short Term Memory Loss Meditation is a wonderful method of helping the entire body to relax. Through a system of breathing exercises the body naturally feels the stress being released and for many people it allows them to be much more open and receptive. Meditation can also aid in helping to overcome short term memory loss. When a person feels relaxed the memory seems to function much better. Through the use of breathing and concentration the memory feels alive and vibrant once again. Remember the last time you forgot someone's name or their birthday? It was probably during a period where you had a great deal on your mind or you were feeling stress. Upon realizing your forgetfulness this generally stirs up even more anxiety which again leads to more memory problems. It's a cycle that some people find themselves constantly in. By employing some of the techniques of meditation that people have been using for years, you can help open up your mind and memory thus allowing it to function better. It's wonderful to imagine having the ability to recall names, numbers and important dates without having to look for pieces of paper or check a calendar. Instead it would all be there within your memory. Meditation does not need to be a complicated process. There are simple exercises that anyone can do for a few moments each day that will help boost the memory. The key to using meditation as a memory booster is that it will help build concentration which works hand in hand with improving your short term memory. Finding a quiet spot is very helpful when you want to meditate. Some people also feel that having essential oils or candles burning adds to the necessary ambiance. If that does help you relax than it's going to beneficial to the entire process including helping you to reenergize your mind. There are also certain scents of oils and candles that are said to be beneficial for memory functions. Meditation can be taught in a class and there are usually classes offered at natural health care facilities and often even at regular gyms. Some of the classes are geared towards helping the memory to function. For a person who feels as though their mind isn't as sharp as it once was, taking one of these classes will benefit them for years to come. Building up a regular routine of meditation to aid in improving short term memory loss will also build self-esteem. Feeling as though you are on top of your game mentally is a wonderful self-image booster. For someone who feels less comfortable within a class of people learning meditation, there are many books and manuals that offer substantial information on mediation as a method of empowering the memory. Some offer illustrations of body position and along with descriptions for the breathing exercises. Following the methods outlined daily will open the person up to the benefits of meditation. By using the techniques described they will not only be relaxing their bodies but fueling their memory as well. Having a relaxed and clear mind is one of the most important aspects to overcoming short term memory loss.

Think Success And You Will Have Success
Those who fail, follow the laws of failure. Those who succeed, follow the laws of success. It is impossible to reach success with a scheme of failure thoughts in your mind. It’s impossible to have good health with a scheme of illness thoughts. Your behavior is directed by your thoughts. Thoughts of failure, disease, loneliness and fear push you into a behavior which leads you directly to fail, become ill, feel lonely and fearful! You can deny this principle or fight against it, you can believe it is not true or it doesn’t apply to you, but you will never be able to escape from it. These principles govern all creation, also the creation of your life. The experiences of your life start in your head. And it’s exactly there where your power lies : in your thoughts! The universe will give you health, if you learn to think in terms of health, not illness. You will have success if you think in terms of success, not failure. Everything you think about repeatedly will manifest one day or another. So why not think of what you want, instead of what you don’t want? In either way you will get what you asked for! So ask for good things by thinking of good things. If you have an appointment with the dentist and you are afraid, do this : picture yourself in the dentist chair, visualize a great white light enveloping you, and say : “Only healing hands touch me”. Picture yourself there in the future having a good relaxing time, totally safe in the hands of someone who helps you to heal from a pain at your teeth. If you have an appointment for a job interview, picture yourself there in the room. What clothes do you wear? How is your hair? What perfume did you choose that morning? Visualize yourself filled with confidence. You talk fluently, you are sure of yourself and your talents are obvious. You have a visit from your parents? You’re exhausted only by the idea? Change your idea! Picture yourself inviting your parents, opening the door, being calm and open-minded, spending a wonderful time with them. See yourself talking with your parents, they are listening, you listen to them, you stay centered on yourself, you are able to stay yourself in their presence. You feel how you love them and you feel their love for you. Try this! And see what happens! It’s all in the mind! It’s in our thoughts we create our life. Even if you’re not conscious about this process, you use it anyway all the time. Every moment you have an idea in your head about what is going to happen. Or you think about something from your past, which you project on your future. You always have ideas in your head. Now that you know your thoughts create your life, which thoughts do you choose? Those who you want to see manifested? Take care of your thoughts, and the rest will follow! Think success, act like someone who is successful and success will come, without any doubt!

Guided Meditation vs UnGuided Meditation
The challenge new meditators have when learning meditation is whether to use a guided mediation or to use an unguided meditation. Our objective in this article is to look at both meditation types so that you can choose which meditation style will suit your requirements. Guided Meditation involves somebody guiding you through the meditation process. That is they literally talk you through the whole meditation process. There are some advantage and disadvantages to this technique. One of the reasons you may consider guided meditation is to help expand your understanding of the various meditation techniques. The Guided Meditation technique can be presented in a number of ways. You may do a guided meditation session in a small group with a meditation practitioner or you might do a guided meditation session using a meditation cd or meditation dvd. If you are first starting out, the Guided Meditation sessions is a good way to learn meditation as the meditation practitioner will talk you through the experience and to help you identify what you should be feeling and how to move you into the state that your meditation technique is trying to get you in. For example if your guided meditation session is teaching you how to master the deep-breath meditation technique then the practitioner will talk you through how to relax and release the tension within your body. They will also be able to tell you what you should be thinking and feeling. A good practitioner will also give you some exercises during the session to try at home that will help your experiment with the meditation technique. The obvious downside to guided meditation is that someone is actually talking to you during the meditation session. Sometimes what people will find is that it is difficult to get to that state we are trying to achieve when someone is talking during the session. Often what you will have to do is to follow a guided meditation session for a number of times till you can learn and remember the meditation process and then try it for yourself in an unguided meditation session on your own. Some meditation centres also offer unguided meditation sessions in a group. What this means is that the whole group meditates together but the session is done in silence with no-one speaking. Many group meditation sessions though will still use meditation music as the basis of the session. Some meditation classes in remote locations will undertake unguided sessions out in the natural surrounding and will use the sounds of nature as the tool to help bring the group to a point of relaxation. Once again though one of the key elements of these unguided sessions is that no-one is allowed to speak during the meditation period. The group leader will generally use a special sound to bring the group meditation session to an end. Most professional meditation practitioners will recommend that a person who is new to meditation take a guided meditation session so that they can learn how to achieve the state of mind the type of meditation they are trying. Learning to meditate is one of the most important tools any human can master and can help improve your day-to-day life and help you cope with your surroundings. Once you have undertaken a few guided meditation sessions you will certainly be able to pursue unguided meditation sessions on your own and the more practice you get the better you will be at meditation. It is also worth considering purchasing a few different guided meditation cd’s so that if in the future you are unsure of what to do during the meditation session, you can refer to the meditation cd as a reference.

Chronic Conditions And My Life
Living with a condition is undeniably stressful and depressing. You soon find out just how much courage you really do have when you are left to deal with a lengthy illness.

There are 'chronic' illnesses (continuing for a long time), and there are 'acute' conditions (such as the common cold or flu). Some chronic illnesses can be fatal, such as cancer. Some chronic illnesses can be relieved and controlled with medical treatment (such as arthritis and asthma), although the condition itself will remain.

Such an illness can leave you drained emotionally, socially, physically and sometimes financially. For the first while, until you adapt to your new condition, you will worry, feel vulnerable, confused, and wonder just what your future holds for you. These feelings are very normal and are just the beginnings of dealing with, and understanding, your condition. Everyone is different, and each of you coming to terms with your illness will accept it at your own own pace. It is very common to feel stressed out trying to live your life, together with your condition, at the same time.

And sometimes people with a chronic illness will keep their condition to themselves, but they soon see this doesn't work. Medications can make you look puffy or make you gain or lose weight, which will undoubtedly be noticed. You will lose time at work when/if you are home sick, more frequently than is normal for you. You won't be too surprised to find that people will, without a doubt, acknowledge and accept your condition with the greatest concern. They are your friends and co-workers, and will want to help however they can, even if it's just listening.

After you have adapted to your condition, the next thing to do is learn all you can about it. The more you know about and understand your condition, the better you will feel. It will relieve the anxiety you are feeling, and will reduce your fear. It also helps to have someone to talk to (your spouse, a family member, or a close trusted friend), or perhaps to join a support group of people with your condition.

And don't be afraid to ask the Doctor/Nurse questions; if you don't understand the Doctor's response, ask again, or ask him to clarify it.

Some questions for the Doctor might be:

What is the treatment for my condition?
How many treatments will i have?
Will they be painful?
Are there side effects?
What if i forget my medicine?
What if the treatments don't work?
Will i be cured?

Learn all you can about your illness, the medications, and treatments for it, and you'll soon thereafter be able to live a healthy, happy lifestyle.

It's difficult at the best of times, to say the least, living with a chronic condition.

Your body's not functioning orlooking the way it should, and to you it's very annoying and depressing. But who of us, healthy or otherwise, is happy with their body? Not very many for sure. If you look after your body, appreciate what it's capable of doing, and accept what it can't, you body image will improve, and that applies to everyone, with or without a chronic illness.

And above all, don't let it be the main focus of your life. You had a life before it came along, and you still do. It has only recently become a part of your life. Maintain your lifestyle with friends, family, favourite activities, and whatever else you do on a daily basis. Be firm with yourself; it's your life.

Unexpected challenges (illnesses) leave one to find an inner strength they may have never thought they had. They grow to appreciate their strengths, and adapt to their weaknesses.
I hope you are going to be one of these people.

Self "Hypnosis is communicating with your subconscious mind. You negotiate with your own self by controlling your mind. It is not difficult to practice it and there is a basic procedure, which I will explain to you. Follow these instructions step by step:

Preparation:

Find and sit in a comfortable place, which is quiet and ensure you are not disturbed

Inducing Self Hypnosis

Close your eyes, take a deep breath, hold a few seconds and exhale. As you exhale count down from three to one (3,2,1) and think to yourself “Relax”

To deepen your hypnotic state, take five slow deep breaths. Each time as you exhale, say to yourself: “Deeper and deeper, more and more relaxed”.

Imagine yourself being in a beautiful, calm and ideal place (some people imagine a garden, hill station or a beach or even a quiet place at home)

Now tell yourself: Each day I become more and more relaxed. I am so relaxed so at ease. I now experience life peacefully and tranquilly. I am at peace and I feel in balance and harmony. I now choose to experience life as a tranquil oneness.

Awakening from Hypnosis

To come out of hypnosis, you can count up from one to three and open your eyes. As you start counting tell yourself that you will come out completely alert, refreshed.

Now count from one to three and open your eyes feeling better than before Self-Hypnosis can help you get rid of your stress, fear and anxiety.

Practicing this exercise twice in a day regularly will help you cure your fears, stress and anxiety.

"Rose Ariadne's Original, Confident Beauty Spell"
Here is the first in the easy witchcraft spell series, and it works best when done in the light of a full moon...

1. You'll need a small hand mirror, the items you normally have on your altar, an extra handle of your favorite color (representing yourself), and a small charm or figurine that you find beautiful (it represents your attractiveness and beauty, both inside and out).

2. Create your sacred spaces, cleanse your area, cast your circle, and all of the other things laid out for you in the Mystical World Of Ancient Witchcraft.

3. Light your deity candles, and as you sit in the light of the candles (and the full moon) begin by looking at yourself in the mirror. As you are gazing at yourself, focus on all of the positive features you have... don't let ANY negative thoughts enter your mind. Look at your skin, your nose, your mouth, your eyes...acknowledge each part of your face and recognize how unique and special each part is. You came from the earth, you know, and the earth is truly beautiful - how could you be any less?

4. Now, as you continue looking into the mirror, say:

"I recognize myself, Rose Ariadne (or whatever your name is), as being a unique and beautiful person from the tips of my toes to the top of my head - and everywhere inside."

5. Hold the mirror in your left had, as you light YOUR candle. Place the charm next to the candle, at it's base.

6. Tilt the mirror so that you can see your candle, and the charm in it's reflection. Now say :

"This candle represents me, Rose Ariadne (or whatever your name is). And this charm is my beauty on inside and out, that nobody lays claim to but me. For I am unique and special. As I see both of them in this mirror of light, so they are both a part of me. Myself, forever together with my beauty. No words will change it, no thought disband it. And so it is. So mote it be!"

7. Blow out your candles, open your circle, and put things away... all the while think about the spell you just cast, and the feeling of confidence that has welled up inside of you. Focus on that feeling, remember how it feels, and make a promise to yourself not to let it go... but if you ever falter, and negativity takes hold in you again - this ritual will always be there for you to instantly rebuild your confidence...

Discover Your Passion
Many times when it comes to discovering your passion and what it is that you truly want, we become caught up. Caught up in our heads as to what it is that we think we should be doing or what our parents told us we should do with our lives. My Mom (like many others) wanted me to become a doctor. Wasn’t she surprised? Finding your true passion may not be what you think. Most people feel that they have to “do” something or “attain” something in order for them to find their true path. Consider the possibility for just a moment that you don’t have to “do” anything at all. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Just like you don’t have to try to hear. Just like you don’t have to try to see. If what you are doing feels like you have to effort at it, then you are meeting resistance and could be getting in your own way. I’m offering a free 6 part email course entitled, Discover Your True Passion. My goal is to help you move your mind in the direction of discovering for yourself what it is that you want to do in life. The material that I cover in this course is what I cover with my coaching clients. Using my psychic abilities and The Sedona Method, I have been swamped with emails asking me, "What if I don't know what I want? Is that a bad thing?" Most people are scared because they can't figure out what it is that they want to do. I say, “It's okay! Give yourself a break." And the rest of my response is this course. During this 6 part series you will learn: *Why what you are doing now doesn't work *Why it's okay that you don't know what you want *What thoughts you have control over *How to effectively phrase your goal statements *The way you sabotage yourself without even knowing it Sign up today and receive a free meditation audio program from my SpiritSpeak series. A Natural Treatment For Depression: SAM-e
As of late the molecule SAM-e has become known as a natural treatment for depression, the number one mental disorder in terms of affected patients world-wide. Today various medicinal treatments for depression exist ranging from well known prescription drugs such as the Serotonin-Reuptake-Inhibitors, to so-called natural treatments for depression. A natural treatment for depression is loosely defined as a medicinal agent that is not a prescription drug and commonly of natural origin such as herbal treatment for depression, fish oils or, as in the case of SAM-e, an agent that is chemically synthesised for treatment purposes, but also occurs naturally in the body. (As an aside it needs to be pointed out that prescription drugs often are also derived from organic sources, including plants, so the definition of “natural” is actually quite imprecise). SAM-e SAM-e (S-Adenosyl Methionine) is an essential amino acid that is naturally produced in the human body, and primarily the liver, where it is also metabolized to a large extent. It plays a central role in the body’s metabolism, where it is involved in the transfer of Methyl-groups to various substrates such as proteins, nucleic acids and lipids. Among its many effects in the body this natural treatment for depression increases the level of neurotransmitters in the brain. Discovered in the 1950s SAM-e has been known as a treatment for various diseases since the 1970s. With an increasing awareness for depression and a growing tendency for self-medication the compound has recently received more and more attention as a potential alternative treatment for depression. This natural treatment for depression is sold in the US as a nutritional supplement rather than as prescription drug, although, as will be seen later, its side effect profile is not to be underestimated. The compound is marketed as either SAM-e or under other trade names such as Gumbaral, Samyr, Adomet and Admethionine. Apart of being marketed as natural treatment for depression SAM-e is also sold as remedy for liver diseases and osteoarthritis. It is commonly taken in the form of a pill at various concentrations. As for the compound’s potential as alternative treatment for depression various clinical studies have shown its positive effect on depression. Many users of SAM-e reported that this natural treatment for depression improved their symptoms significantly; while others stated that there depression even disappeared completely. However, the compound is not without its risks as in some patients it can cause neurological conditions such as worsened depression, anxiety, mania, nausea and headaches as well as other organic side effects such as diarrhoea, dyspepsia, insomnia and allergic reactions. It may also lose its potency over time as the patient’s body adjusts to the chemical. Long term effects of SAM-e are unknown. Concluding it can be said that SAM-e may be a viable natural treatment for depression for a given depression patient. However, while not a prescription drug it is recommended not to take it without medical guidance. In particular it is important to start taking this alternative treatment for depression at a low dosage, since overdosing is commonly reported often leading to the side effects mentioned above.

Meditations: Meditating Before Going To Bed
The world to me seems to be speeding up everyday. We are working longer hours, we are busier than we have ever been before, the traffic is snarling more and more and our stress levels are going through the roof. The consequence to this is that more and more people are suffering insomnia and this can become dangerous and affect your ability to function effectively. One of the best tools to help you with both insomnia and stress is meditation and in particular, meditating before going to bed. I want to make a clear disclaimer at this point, if you are suffering severe insomnia or stress, please ensure that you get medical help because long term stress and insomnia can cause serious medical issues. However, I would encourage you to use Meditation in conjunction with the therapies a medical practitioner might prescribe as effective meditation will help. One of the core mistakes that people make with meditation and sleep is that they try to use meditation to actually go to sleep and this never works and in fact it can actually make it harder to get to sleep. The role of meditation before sleep is to slow your body and your mind down so that it gets to a point where it is easier for it to fall naturally asleep. There are many techniques that you can use to meditate including a seated meditation or a lying down meditation. I recommend people use the sitting method over the lying method because using the lying method so close to going to sleep you may tend to go to sleep rather than actually meditating. There is a clear difference between sleep and meditation. The core difference is that during meditation your mind needs to be clear but focused where as during sleep, you do not want to be focused you want nothing to be focused in your mind and you want your body and mind to get to that point where you shutdown. What I recommend is that if you are going to meditate prior to going to sleep then you need to use a basic meditation plan. The plan goes like this … 1. Your meditation session should take no more than 20 minutes 2. Your meditation session should start 40 minutes prior to going to bed 3. Your meditation technique during the session should use either the deep breathing Technique or basic number counting. 4. Do not drink alcohol, coffee, tea or any other caffeinated drink prior to sleep or you will affect the effectiveness of the meditation session. Two meditation techniques you should avoid 60 minutes prior to going to bed is the reflective meditation technique or the affirmation meditation technique. I have found from my own experience that if you use these techniques so close to going to bed you can start your mind focusing on either the affirmations or reflections post your meditation session. This means with only 20 minutes between when you finish your session and when you go to sleep, sometimes you will find that your thoughts continue on after the session and consequently can disrupt your sleep which is what you actually trying to avoid. One of the reasons I have recommended that you do not meditate and then goto bed, is that sometimes I find that the meditation will bring out various chemicals and stir up feelings in your body which could disrupt your ability to sleep and be leaving the period of 20 minutes between meditating and sleep free is enough to settle you down to get a good nights sleep. I should note that my colleagues and I use this technique because our jobs are often highly stressful and using this process at night after a heavy day so that we can get a quality nights sleep. When used effectively, meditation can make a huge difference in the effectiveness of your sleep and the quality of your life. However, meditation is like a sport, the more practice you do, the more effective you become.

Don't Try to Save the World
All probabilities exist at the same time, and in the same space. What you wish to experience is just one probability that already exists. Life is a buffet of endless choices that is already available to us. Everyday we choose what we want to experience this day. Whether we turn right or left at the end of the driveway is not dictated to use by necessity, responsibility or anything else. It is a conscious choice. The fact that we do have responsibilities only leads us to make certain choices that reflect how we feel about those responsibilities. If we choose to experience them we make a choice at the end of the driveway that says "I'm responsible." If we do not wish to accept the responsibility that we have created, we simply make a choice that says "I'm not responsible." Our actions represent our thoughts-it is a physical symbol of how we are thinking in the moment. We cannot demonstrate a thought physically that does not demonstrate our true thoughts unless we are insane, and even then there is a thought behind the action. The world is perfect the way it is. The circumstances and conditions of the world are our thoughts made manifest. The world is the way it is because that is how we want it to be. If it is not, then it represents our global insanity-our thinking is not working. But the world does not have to be changed-we do! If what we are experiencing is not what we desired or want to experience, then there is something that is not working for us, and it needs to be corrected. If we consider ourselves highly evolved persons and we have created a world that we do not wish to experience-there is something wrong with our thinking. We have clearly not demonstrated our superiority or enlightenment as a collective world body. There are only three possible exceptions to this-we may indeed be insane, or it was our desire to experience this world as it is now. The other possibility is that we created a situation that has huge benefits and opportunities for growth. It is easy to pollute, but much more difficult to correct the problem. The industrial revolution has done much to expand our technical expertise, but has done little to demonstrate our enlightenment. However the fallout from this growth may be a gift in disguise, and within our ability to turn our circumstances around. It may be our subconscious desire to expand even more quickly in order to save ourselves from the damage that we have done. When people have a common goal, i.e., one of survival, they begin to work more effectively together and change comes quickly. Reaction to crisis or disaster brings unity in thought, and the combined thought process brings greater changes faster. If humanity sees itself as lost, the global circumstances are reflecting that thought. In order to restore order chaos is created, and the chaos demands more thought energy and unity to bring order once again. It is clear that as a race of people we have not really evolved very much spiritually. So at a subconscious level we are now creating circumstances in our environment that are going to give us the opportunity to learn from our mistakes, and bring out in each one of us, a whole new era of thoughtful enlightenment that is life affirming. The circumstances of the world, natural-disasters, poverty, cruelty, inequity, and war are not punishments from God or anyone else. They were created by us individually and en masse. They are opportunities for growth, and greater co-operation and spiritual enlightenment. When we rise from our own insanity, and see what is obvious-what we have done-we will be able to change it. The world is the way it is, because it is what we wanted to experience at some level of consciousness. We now have another opportunity to change it, if we no longer wish to experience it, in its present condition-if we can accept the responsibility for its condition, then we also have the power to change it. If we pass that responsibility onto others or God, then we will be waiting a very long time for them to change it. The creator does not perform miracles-he gave humanity to ability to do them for itself. Miracles are simply thoughts manifested, that do not reflect current conditions. The world does not need a miracle unless we believe that it does. Then, and only then will we have the power to change it. If disasters and wars are the wake-up call for a world that it has gone insane, then we are now in the position to acknowledge it, and alter our thoughts to manifest the world we desire to experience. It is not necessary to change the world from what it is. This probability will always exist. It is within each of us to change our thoughts about the world, and how we want to experience it, and manifest the world that we desire into our present reality. Leave this world alone-create something new. Put all your efforts and energy into thoughts of a new world that you wish to experience, and you will create it. If it is your desire to experience changing the present world, that is were your energy will go, and that is what you will experience. If you want to experience a "changed" world-focus your attention on that world which already exists as another possibility. However you cannot put all your efforts and energy into creating a new world, while you are still holding the same thoughts that created the one that you now experience. That is another demonstration of insanity-change comes when you change your thoughts, and your actions reflect that change. You can't keep doing the same things expecting different results-it just does not work that way. You can not save the world-the world does not need saving. You need to save yourself from yourself.
